One life lost to

gun violence is

one too many.

Who We Are

Memphis Allies, an initiative powered by Youth Villages, is a bold and growing collaboration of community partners, clinical and outreach teams and national experts working together to end gun violence in our city. Grounded in evidence-based programs and real-world results, we’re transforming Memphis’ most vulnerable neighborhoods into safe, thriving communities. We’re working to create places where families can flourish, and children can grow up free from fear. We believe in accountability and everyone putting in the hard work. And it’s working – 91% of our participants have not incurred another gun charge while in programming.

We believe in the power of the community

The Challenge

Memphis saw a steady increase in the number of homicides between 2019 and 2023. The number of homicides peaked in 2023 at 428. Since then, we’ve seen a year-over-year decrease that has continued today. So far in 2025, homicides are down nearly 40% from the peak in 2023.

But our work isn’t done. Not even close.

Together, we have the power to chart a new course. Everyone has a role to play. We’re proving that ending gun violence is possible when the community leads the way.
