One life lost to
gun violence is
one too many.
Who We Are
We believe in the power of the community
The Challenge
Memphis saw a steady increase in the number of homicides between 2019 and 2023. The number of homicides peaked in 2023 at 428. Since then, we’ve seen a year-over-year decrease that has continued today. So far in 2025, homicides are down nearly 40% from the peak in 2023.
But our work isn’t done. Not even close.
How We Work
Our core gun violence intervention programs — SWITCH and SWITCH Youth — target those at the highest risk of gun violence, ages 12 to 35.
How do we
define high risk?
- Involved in a gang/group/clique
- Recently shot/shot at
- Had a family member/friend recently shot/shot at
- Has a history of criminal justice interaction
- Has not completed high school
- Currently unemployed
Each participant is supported by a dedicated team that includes:
Outreach Workers
with deep community roots
Life Coaches
with lived experience and mentorship expertise
Clinical Specialists
who provide therapy and trauma care
Case Managers
who connect individuals to housing, education and job support
Support With Intention to Create Hope
Through our SWITCH and SWITCH Youth program models, we identify, connect with and serve the individuals most at risk of gun violence — offering not just hope, but real opportunity for change.
Getting It Done
Our focus is on long-term impact. As a leading gun violence intervention initiative, Memphis Allies focuses on sustainable, data-driven approaches.
- Hundreds of high-risk individuals already active in SWITCH and SWITCH Youth

What can you do?
Gun violence affects all of us. So does the solution. Whether you volunteer, donate, spread the word or join a local event, your support matters. Together, we can create safer streets, stronger neighborhoods and a brighter future for the next generation.
Get Involved
We believe the solution to community safety lies primarily with everyone working together toward a united goal – a safer and stronger Memphis.
